I shared earlier this week that sometimes you just need a legit, real sugar, real butter chocolate chip cookie! And I wholeheartedly believe it’s true. Now, I don’t eat them a ton. In fact, it’s been over 6 months since I eve made these last. I only make them when there are others who want to eat them, and that’s fairly rare. My hubby isn’t a big cookie guy, leaving Maddy and I to eat all of them. That’s not a good scenario. Haha!
Anyway, on to the recipe!

- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg large
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 375*F (175*C).
- Mix shortening, butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Stir together until smooth. Add vanilla and egg. Stir until smooth.
- In a second bowl, mix dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed. (If the dough is too soft you can add flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.) Add chocolate chips and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed well.
- Drop by rounded teaspoon onto cookie sheet; bake 8-12 minutes; cool on wire rack before storing in airtight container.
