Booklook Review: It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst

Little Seed and Little Fox are unlikely friends, but both encounter change and have to face fear. Together, they learn that they can trust the Farmer; he is good and kind. While neither Little Seed or Little Fox like their new circumstances, they recognize that they are okay, and the Farmer cares for them.

Children experience a lot of change as they grow up. Often this change is accompanied by fears, whether real or imagined. The story of Little Seed and Little Fox is a great example of how even when facing a new situation, they can learn to trust God and in the end, it will be okay because God is always with us.

“It Will Be Okay” is a children’s gift book written by Lysa Terkeurst, illustrated by Natalia Moore. Lysa’s words pair perfectly with the beautiful textured art by Natalia Moore. Each page is so full of expression and engages the reader.

When I saw this book as an option to review, I knew that we had to get our hands on it. Fear is something everyone struggles with, child or adult. While I haven’t read any of Lysa’s other books, what I have seen from her is Biblical and poignant. “It Will Be Okay” met my expectations and went even further-I was delighted with not only her story-telling abilities, but also the illustrator she chose to bring that tale to life! Both author and illustrator paid such attention to details, with every emotion being conveyed through color, type, and rhythm of the story. I know that Maddy will love this book, and that we will be able to have some solid, truth-based conversations about fear and God’s care for us as a result of reading it together.

I would recommend this book to anyone with children. Even if your littles are babies, they will be at reading age soon and you can enjoy this story together, along with the powerful and simple truth message it carries!
