This morning as I was on my last two “runs” of my jogging/walking training, my legs wanted to quit on me. Several times I had to TELL my legs to keep going, to keep pushing, to pick up the pace from a trudge of a jog. (of course, it didn’t help that Mason and I had just completed our “Lower Fix” workout first thing this morning!)

*note to self…not on the same day next time!

Can I just tell you that the Holy Spirit is SO TIMELY?!

“I discipline my body…” (1 Corinthians 9:27)

Allowing your toddler to drive decisions isn’t wise, and neither is submitting to the whims of your flesh.

So, I kept running.

I LOVE that my physical fitness and nutrition has become intertwined with my spiritual growth. I never really connected these two entities prior, but choosing to invest time in this body God has granted me to steward and feeding it well is a whole new connection than being an athlete in high school or college.

I Corinthians 9:25-27

“Every athlete exercises self-control in all things.

They do it to receive a perishable wreath,

but we an imperishable.

So I do not run aimlessly;

I do not box as one beating the air.

But I discipline my body and keep it under control,

 lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”
