Spiritual Hydration

A few months ago I was drained. No momentum left. Everything God had brought us through from January until August of this year left me feeling spiritually ill. You know that point when you are so hungry, so thirsty, that you are sick and stop feeling those needs?

I was there.

…and I HATED it.

I knew that God had led us through so many trials, had commanded us to live our lives by faith and step out on thin air.  He had literally provided every penny, every need that we had—He had anticipated everything for us! Yet, I just felt numb. My faith was stronger because of everything God had tested, but I just felt dry.

I determined to fight through it and pursue God like He set the example in pursuing me. I put myself through bootcamp-esque discipline, expecting, waiting, praying for God to pour out His living water every time I sought His face.

I’m not sure when it happened. I just know that I feel alive, normal again—at some point I was finally re-hydrated. GREAT stuff!

My heart surged when I recently read Psalm 63: here are a few verses that I found such joy in!

“O God, You are my God…” (Psalm 63:1a)

God is MY GOD! done.

“…You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.

My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.” (Psalm 63:7-8)

I have literally lived this and can share story after story of its truth! How I envy the birds who just get to sing His praises all day long!

Where is your heart right now? Are you spiritually dehydrated? Are you spiritually overflowing? Why?
